The Chevrolet Tahoe LT for 2004

August 8th, 2010

Chevrolet Tahoe

One of the staples of the Sport Utility segment is the Chevrolet Tahoe. In the previous model year released a brand new version of the Tahoe with three versions: LS, LT, and Z71. Sales for the Tahoe, especially the Tahoe LT, were brisk during 2004 and 2005. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.

Chevrolet Tahoe Engine Specs

Chevrolet Tahoe Engine Specs: The Tahoe LT comes outfitted with a Vortec 4.8 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is teamed up with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Chevrolet.

The fuel system for the 2004 Tahoe is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 26.00 gallons.

The Tahoe uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Vehicle Statistics

The dimensions of the Tahoe LT are 78.90 inches wide by 196.90 inches long. It sits a comfortable 76.50 inches off the ground. It seats a standard six passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 116.00 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $34,750 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $30,406. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sport Utility.

A powertrain warranty is provided (36,000 miles/36 months), and a 36,000 mile, 36 month guarantee also comes with the Chevrolet Tahoe. This is standard for the price range.

Fuel Efficiency

The Tahoe LT received a miles-per-gallon rating of 14 - 16 in-city driving and 18 - 19 when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

We Think…

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Tahoe LT sold well in 2004. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Tahoe.
