Insight Into the Chevrolet Suburban 2500 for 2008

March 3rd, 2010

One of the staples of the Sport Utility segment is the Chevrolet Suburban 2500. In the previous model year released a brand new version of the Suburban 2500 with two versions: LT and LS. Sales for the Suburban 2500, especially the Suburban 2500 LS, were brisk during 2008 and 2009. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.

Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Engine Specs

The Suburban 2500 LS is equipped with a General Motors 6.0 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors 6-speed Transmission. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Sport Utility arena.

The Suburban 2500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

For the 2008 Suburban 2500, the fuel delivery system is a electronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 39.00 gallons.

Vehicle Statistics

The dimensions of the Suburban 2500 LS are 79.10 inches wide by 222.40 inches long. It sits a comfortable 76.80 inches off the ground. It seats a standard eight passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 130.00 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Suburban 2500 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 60 months or 100,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sport utility market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The listed retail price in 2008 (MSRP) was $39,495, with an invoice cost of $36,138. This price is above average of the industry average price for a four-door Sport Utility.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2008 Suburban 2500 gets 19 miles/gallon on the highway and only 14 in the city. This is exceptional for a sport utility truck.

In 2007 and 2008 the Suburban 2500 LS was availble in the exterior colors of Black, Blue Granite Metallic, Deep Ruby Metallic, Dark Blue Metallic, Gold Mist Metallic, Graystone Metallic, Silver Birch Metallic, Summit White, and White Diamond. Additional options were made available by the factory.

We Think…

The 2007 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Suburban 2500. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Suburban 2500 LS will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
