There have been several award-winning trucks from Chevrolet over the years, including the Chevrolet Suburban 2500 of 2000. There are three trim levels to the Suburban 2500, including Base, LS, and LT. The LT version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 1999 the popular 6.0 liter Vortec has made this a popular choice for sport utility buyers across the country.

Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Engine Specs

Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Engine Specs: The Suburban 2500 LT comes outfitted with a Vortec 6.0 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is mated to a four-speed transmission by General Motors. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Chevrolet.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The Suburban 2500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by torsion bar front springs and leaf in the rear.

The fuel system for the 2000 Suburban 2500 is a SFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The 33.00-gallon tank provides the fuel storage for longer trips.

A powertrain guarantee is provided (36,000 miles/36 months), and a 36,000 mile, 36 month guarantee also comes with the Chevrolet Suburban 2500. This is standard for the price range.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $28,627 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $25,049. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sport Utility.

MPG Ratings

The 2000 Suburban 2500 gets 16 miles/gallon on the highway and only 14 in the city. This is subpar for a sport utility truck.

We Think…

The 1999 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Suburban 2500. The 2000 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Suburban 2500 LT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
