The Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LS for 2008
In 2008 Chevrolet released the Suburban 1500 LS to the truck-buying market. The Suburban 1500 came in three configurations: LTZ and LS. The LS configuration is powered by the 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine, which makes 19 highway miles and 14 city. The Suburban 1500 competes in the Sport Utility market segment, in direct competition with Kia.
Engine Performance
The Suburban 1500 LS is equipped with a General Motors 5.3 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.
The Suburban 1500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.
Suburban 1500 LS Statistics
The Suburban 1500 is 222.40 inches long, 79.10 inches wide, and 76.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 130.00 inches. It is able to seat 8 comfortably.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $39,495 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $36,138. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sport Utility.
Fuel Efficiency
For the 2008 Suburban 1500, the fuel delivery system is a electronic SFI, using FLEX for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 39.00 gallons.
The Suburban 1500 LS received a miles-per-gallon rating of fourteen in-city driving and nineteen when it came to long-distance. Being a flex-powered hybrid truck, this was subpar.
In Summary
The 2007 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Suburban 1500. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Suburban 1500 LS will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
There’s no doubt that Chevrolet is up to it’s old tricks with the Suburban 1500? I’m hoping next year’s example is improved.
Blah
I saw the recent news about Chevrolets and their reliability. I personally would check out web sites like edmunds.com and others before I made a choice of a truck like the Suburban 1500.
