A Better 2007’s Model: The 2008 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 LT

February 27th, 2010

The 2008 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 LT was introduced to compete in the sport utility market. The LT is a member of a series of two trim levels for the Suburban 2500 which include LT and LS. The four-door truck with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.

Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Engine Specs

The Suburban 2500 LT is equipped with a General Motors 6.0 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors 6-speed Transmission. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Sport Utility arena.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The Suburban 2500 has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses torsion bar front springs and leaf in the rear.

The 2008 Suburban 2500’s traditional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection style of design. The fuel tank holds 39.00 gallons.

Vehicle Statistics

The Suburban 2500 is 222.40 inches long, 79.10 inches wide, and 76.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 130.00 inches. It is able to seat 8 comfortably.

A powertrain warranty is provided (100,000 miles/60 months), and a 36,000 mile, 36 month guarantee also comes with the Chevrolet Suburban 2500. This is standard for the price range.

The listed retail price in 2008 (MSRP) was $39,495, with an invoice cost of $36,138. This price is above average of the industry average price for a four-door Sport Utility.

Fuel Efficiency

The Suburban 2500 LT received a miles-per-gallon rating of fourteen in-city driving and nineteen when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

The vehicle is available in Black, Blue Granite Metallic, Deep Ruby Metallic, Dark Blue Metallic, Gold Mist Metallic, Graystone Metallic, Silver Birch Metallic, Summit White, and White Diamond.

Conclusion

The 2007 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Suburban 2500. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Suburban 2500 LT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

Can there be any doubt that Chevrolet is up to it’s old tricks with the Suburban 2500? I’m hoping next year’s model is improved.
