Sales for the Suburban 1500, especially the Suburban 1500 LT, were brisk during 2001 and 2002. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.

Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Engine Specs

The restyled Suburban 1500 LT is equipped with a General Motors 5.3-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The Vortec engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The Suburban 1500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The fuel system for the 2001 Suburban 1500 is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 38.50 gallons.

The 2000 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Suburban 1500. The 2001 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Suburban 1500 LT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

    Good article. At first I felt like I needed to refute your review of the Chevrolet Suburban 1500, but after further reflection I can see your point of view. Perhaps my personal Suburban 1500 LT is an abberation. What is everyone else’s experiences?
