A Better 1992’s Model: The 1993 Chevrolet Lumina APV LS

The 1993 Lumina APV is an important vehicle to Chevrolet for the mini passenger van market segment. The LS is a member of a series of two trim levels for the Lumina APV which include LS and Base. The three-door van with its front-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Kia.

The Lumina APV LS is equipped with a General Motors 3.1 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Chevrolet engine is mated to a Hydra-Matic 3-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $15,895 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 3-door Mini Passenger Van.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1993 Lumina APV is a TBI design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected TBI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 20.00 gallons.

The 1993 Lumina APV gets 23 miles/gallon on the highway and only 18 in the city. This is below average for a mini passenger van van.
