In the chilton repair manual there is a paragraph devoted to this … is this not true? Does such a switch actually exist?

The door locks do not work as well as the lights.The power seats sometimes work.When I am trying to start the car the dash lights work and the radio.When the door is open there is a ticking noise and it stops when i close the door.There is a lot of ticking coming from the front of the car but no noise when i try to start it.I already tried to overide the starter kill relay but it does nothing.
